Short Film: THE HILL WE CLIMB, 2min,. USA, Documentary

Though I’m only 19 years old, half-way through my major at NYU Tisch, I’m proud to also teach high school students at a non-profit in Baltimore City, Wide Angle Youth Media. It’s hard to find any text that represents what our students are doing now better than Amanda Gorman’s “The Hill We Climb”. WAYM’s virtual event student planners have been working hard on Wide Angle’s Prom: A Dance Through the Decades. First delving through history and finding key figures and events that aren’t always mentioned in our history books, students then created virtual backgrounds that celebrate these moments in an artistic way. Inspired by this work, planners in class created and narrated a piece for Black History Month using a combination of student-filmed and stock footage.
