A Price to Pay is the story of Fred, a black student at a California University. He had been firmly against interracial dating until he met Carol, a white student and daughter of a businessman. Carol, who had been involved with Leslie, a married man working as the manager of one of her father’s Laundry businesses, terminated the involvement just before she shared her experience with Fred and became involved with him. Leslie, who objected to the termination, insisted on talking with Carol about their relationship, but Carol wanted no part of a discussion with him concerning the matter.
